at thousands of documents and e- mails detailing communication between kelley and allen. >> the fbi is also working on a time line of the fair between broadwell and petraeus and how long officials may have known about it before word got out. yesterday, agents were at broadwell's home in charlotte, income np a spokeswoman would not comment on what the agents were doing at the home. congress returns to work today, no doubt at the top of the agenda is avoiding the so- called fiscal cliff. president obama and vice president biden will be meeting with leaders from the labor community today to discuss ways to keep the economy growing and find the balanced approach to reduce the federal deficit. efi former d.c. council chair kwame brown wille u.s. district court judge to learn his fate today.

>> he resigned and pleaded guilty to bank fraud charges in june. melanie alnwick is live in northwest d.c. with the latest. >> reporter: good morning. you know, kwame brown actually has two sentencing hearings hearings today. the first in federal court on those bank fraud charged and then the second later this afternoon in d.c. superior court on campaign finance violation charges. now, as you mentioned, brown pleaded guilty in june. after a year-long investigation, the federal charges relate to providing false information on bank loan applications. one of the loan was for a 39- foot boat. brown also forged the signature of a friend on an application and doctored two forms to overstate his income by tens of thousands of dollars. the other charges go back to an audit by d.c.'s office of campaign finance. it found that brown's 2008 election campaign failed to report more than $400,000 in contributions an expenditures and that $239,000 wound up in the hands of a consulting company controlled by brown's

brother. kwame brown's original plea agreement where he admit guilt to those charges called for a six-month jail sentence but prosecutors since then sort of softened their opinion on that. they said they would be willing to accept six days in jail served primarily on weekends and three years of supervised probation. brown's attorneys on the other hand are asking for no jail time, two years of supervised probation and community service. back to you guys. >> thank you. now for a follow-up to a fox 5 investigation on a critical shortage of paramedics in the district. >> the city can't keep enough medic units on the streets around the clock. today, d.c.'s fire chief will announce a plan to move medics off the overnight hours to help with busier times of the day. the chief disputes the claim by the firefighters union that this plan will reduce their

ability to respond to calls by 36%. >> i don't know if that data is correct, first of all. what i will say is we will have an ambulance that can respond. we have 21 paramedic engine companies and seven ems supervisors who are also paramedics who can assist that ambulance to provide emergency or advanced life support care. >> the chief says the plan is not complete yet and it still needs to be discussed with the city council and stakeholders. a list of d.c. schools targeted for closure and consolidation is scheduled to be revealed today. those suggested for consolidation will be combined with higher performing charter schools in the district. chancellor kaya henderson will make the announcement. this is the second time no four years closings or consolidation have been made. a big change for make your next trip on thably a little easier is about to make its debut. >> the alleged east coast riptaist will be in court today. details on the expected plea when fox 5 morning news continues in a moment. 

ate student on the montgomery college campus in rockville is ford threatening to go on a shooting spree. school officials say he had recently gap through a tough break-up and made the comments to other students. both rockville and campus police found the student eating lunch outside campus but did not find aweapon. aweapon. opening statements begin today in the murder trial of a bowie state university student. alexis simpson is accused of killing her roommate with a pair of scissors. if convicted, simpson faces a maximum of life in prison without parole. the man accused of being the east coast rapist is expected to plead guilty for the first time in virginia. aaron thomas has a plea hearing in prince william county later on this morning. he is charged with abducting

for rhett vans day but many people still had to go to work. metro though was operating on a saturday schedule yesterday and with track work on some lines, there were major delays. some red line trains were so packed people could not even get on. others tell us their commute normally 20 minutes took an hour yesterday. metro says ridership typically falls between 20 and 30% on holidays. complaints about power are common after a storm rolls through. today, marten o'malley will discuss ways to protect the power grid from severe weather.  ♪

their boss threatened layoffs if president obama was reacted but now they are getting a raisin stead. more on that in a minute. first, let's take a look at the market. lauren simonetti is live in new york with this morning's business beat. good morning. >> good morning. >> stock were kind of flat yesterday. any news that will spark some moves into positives. >> how about really negative instead this morning. this tuesday morning, yeah, we are down pretty dramatically here in the premarket. no major economic news or economic data on tap. we do get earnings, of course, and we are watching everything in europe. it is these fiscal cliff worries that really have investors nervous. we are seeing some selling and likely will continue to see selling because of it. as we try to round out this year, we are up substantially for the year so the markets should end in positive territory but we'll see some selling for the time being most likely.

>> a rocky ride. but some move into positive territory you could say for some employees out there. explain what is going on. >> westgate resorts, a time share company. it is huge and private however. the ceo said in early october that he was going to have to be forced to lay off workers if president obama was re-elected. obviously, president obama was re-elected and now he is giving autopsy 7,000 of his workers a 5% pay raise each. he says his stance antichanged. he just is enjoying record profits for his company and he feels that his employees who did not get a pay increase last year are going to need more money to deal with rising costs under president obama. so they're getting a pay raise instaved pink slip. >> i think in that company, no

a developing story now in d.c. this morning. sentencing day for former d.c. council chair kwame brown who will learn his fate today. >> he resigned and pleaded guilty back in june. melanie alnwick has the details. >> reporter: kwame brown's original plea agreement with federal prosecutors with he admitted guilt to the bank fraud charges called for a six- month prison term. but prosecutors have softened their stance somewhat saying they think a six-day jail term is appropriate along with three years of supervised release. now, kwame brown was a rising polical star in d.c. instead, he had a high profile fall from grace after pleading guilty to providing false information on bank loan applications. one of the loans was for a 39- foot boat. he forged the sixty of a friend on an application and doctored two forms to overstate his income by tens of thousands of dollars.

in the other charges, it was related to an audit by d.c.'s office of campaign finance that found that his 2008 election campaign failed to report more than $400,000 in contributions and expenditures and that $239,000 wound up in the hands of a consulting company controlled by brown's brother. prosecutors said he deserved some credit since he did resign and pleaded guilty and he didn't default on any of the loops so there was no financial loss. prosecutors said that brown paid a heavy price for his crime, that he now, after the sentencing will be a convicted felon with no political office and he will be unemployed. now, again, brown has two sentencing hearing this morning. the first for the bank fraud charges at 11:00 in federal court and then at 2:30 this afternoon, he will go over to d.c. superior court where he faces sentence for the campaign finance violations. in that case, he could see a maximum of a six-month jail term there. so it could be a very busy day

. investigators still don't know what caused the massive explosion that leveled or damaged dozens of homes in indianapolis. they're checking gas line but there were no reports of anyone smelling natural gas before the explosion that killed two

people and injured seven others. one home owner suspects a furnace may have been the problem. but an expert say it takes a lot of safety violations to create an explosion like this from a faulty furnace. president obama tomorrow will get a close look at parts of new york still devastated from superstorm sandy. it has been two weeks now and still 100,000 people don't have power. people in the neighborhood of belle harbor lost power when the storm ripped through. people working to help those who lost so much say they are not getting help from government agencies. severe flooding and strong wins are still wreaking havoc in italy. boats could be seen being swept away by strong currents. mean many roads are still swamped with water. a 73-year-old man is believed to have downed when his car was submerged in tuscany. torrential rain has caused rivers to burst that i banks and he can possess problems

hot cocktail in the 14th century -- used to make a hot cocktail in the 14th. it didn't contain eggs or milk. it just contained booze. overtime it evolved into this drink that contained milk and egg in english society. but most english people could not afford dairy or eggs for their drink, only the aristocrats could. so it was a very rare drink. that is really the basics where have the drink came from. and alcohol was added to it pause it helped to preserve it and they enjoyed having a little nip now and then. that was added to t when it made its way over to america, rum became the standard alcohol used in it. before that, in europe, it was other drinks, whiskey, a variety of other liqueurs as well. >> what is amazing it is really took off in the american colonies. it is still to this day not
